The Saudi-US Trade and Investment Council (TIFA) discussed, during its regular meeting, 31 initiatives from both sides across various sectors, including 17 Saudi initiatives and 14 US initiatives, to enhance economic cooperation by reviewing trade and investment policies and supporting technical dialogue between relevant authorities.

The council focuses on 5 main goals

The meeting was attended from the Saudi side by Abdulaziz Al-Sakran, Deputy Governor of the General Authority of Foreign Trade for International Relations, and from the US side by Bryant Trick, Assistant US Trade Representative for Europe and the Middle East; to follow up on the initiatives of the ninth council meeting held last January in Riyadh.

The council, chaired by the authority, focuses on 5 main goals: developing trade and investment policies, facilitating trade and addressing technical and regulatory barriers, supporting cooperation on sanitary and phytosanitary measures and agricultural products, enhancing intellectual property protection, and promoting digital trade, innovation, and emerging technologies.

The meeting included the participation of the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, the General Authority of Ports, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority.

Also participating were the Local Content and Government Procurement Authority, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the National Center for E-Learning, the National Center for Passenger Security under the Presidency of State Security, and the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases.

The General Authority of Foreign Trade works to develop bilateral trade relations through coordination councils and joint government committees, in addition to enabling the Kingdom's non-oil exports to access foreign markets and helping to overcome various challenges they face.
