The atmosphere at New York/New Jersey's MetLife Stadium was electric ahead of the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.

After much buzz and many questions, US President Donald Trump attended the match in the stadium stands for the first time in a World Cup, accompanied by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

The golden trophy was brought in a Louis Vuitton case, to be presented by legends Andrés Iniesta and Mario Kempes, former champions with Spain and Argentina respectively.

Famous American actor Tom Cruise made headlines by giving a speech: 'Today we come together for the final chapter of this tournament. We are here to unite everyone in the world and celebrate. This is what greatness is all about.'

The national anthems of both countries were played with great enthusiasm, as the players walked past the World Cup trophy without any of them attempting to touch it.

The 'Tango' fans reacted passionately as 1978 World Cup star Mario Kempes lifted and kissed the trophy, hoping for their team to win the fourth title in history.

Big halftime show: After the first half ended, a massive artistic show began in the stadium, featuring Madonna, Shakira, Justin Bieber, and BTS, among other acts. The break was supposed to last 17 minutes as set by FIFA, but it extended by 10 more minutes.

Brazilian legends Ronaldo and Ronaldinho also took part in Madonna's musical segment.
