Fine of 250,000 Riyals for Clubs Late in Submitting Kit Requests
The Saudi Pro League has announced escalating fines for clubs failing to submit kit requests on time, with penalties ranging from warnings to 250,000 riyals, and similar sanctions for other equipment violations.
The Saudi Pro League will impose a fine of up to 250,000 riyals on Roshn Saudi League clubs that are late in submitting requests for approval of their primary kit, celebration outfit, or commemorative kit. The league has issued a regulation to control violations related to team equipment, playing kits, and commercial and advertising logos within stadiums.
The league explained that the penalty starts with a warning and a grace period for compliance, then escalates with repeated offenses to a fine of 50,000 riyals, then 100,000 riyals, reaching 250,000 riyals if non-compliance persists.
The same graduated penalties apply if a club refuses to provide 30 signed shirts from players upon request.
The league has prohibited clubs and players from wearing or using any equipment in controlled areas (the stadium and surrounding facilities) that is offensive or inappropriate, or contains political, religious, or controversial personal messages and logos. It also banned the use of any equipment that provides an unfair competitive advantage, alters the essence of the game, or implies an unauthorized commercial association.
Penalties for displaying sponsor advertisements without written approval are equal to those for displaying unauthorized charity logos. The first violation incurs a fine of 50,000 riyals, suspended until the end of the sports season. For a second violation, the suspension is lifted and a fine of 100,000 riyals is imposed. For a third violation, the fine reaches 250,000 riyals and the club is obliged to pay financial compensation to the league. The maximum penalty for each subsequent violation is 500,000 riyals.
The league stressed the necessity for players to wear the alternative vests provided by the league during matches. If the club fails to ensure this, penalties start with a warning and a fine of 20,000 riyals, suspended until the end of the season. For repeated violations, the penalty doubles to 50,000 riyals (with suspension lifted), then 100,000 riyals, and 200,000 riyals for subsequent offenses.
