Gold prices in Syria record a new increase
The price of 21-karat gold in the Syrian market rose by 150 new Syrian pounds during Thursday's trading, compared to its price recorded on Wednesday.
According to the bulletin issued by the General Authority for the Management of Precious Metals today, the price of a gram of 21-karat gold reached about 15,150 new Syrian pounds for sale and 14,850 pounds for purchase.
The price of a gram of 18-karat gold recorded about 12,950 new Syrian pounds for sale and 12,650 pounds for purchase, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
Gold prices rose more than 1% on Thursday as investors rushed to buy, seizing opportunities after the precious metal fell to its lowest level in a week, while markets continued to closely monitor developments in the Middle East.
Spot gold rose 1% to $4,116.70 per ounce by 13:12 GMT, after falling on Wednesday to its lowest level since July 1. US gold futures for August delivery also rose 1.1% to $4,126.60 per ounce.
