Competition Authority Receives 112 Economic Concentration Requests in Q2 2026

The General Authority for Competition announced that it received 112 economic concentration requests during the second quarter of 2026, an increase of 29% compared to the same period last year, of which 76 requests had no-objection decisions issued.

In a report, the authority explained that the average number of days for studying incoming economic concentration requests was 4 days during the second quarter of 2026, while the total value of requests amounted to about 373.84 billion riyals.

It also showed that acquisition requests from foreign entities accounted for 75% of total deals, compared to 25% for local entities during the same period.

Acquisition deals accounted for 89% of total economic concentrations, while joint ventures accounted for 8% and mergers for 3%.

The manufacturing sector had the largest share of the sectoral distribution of economic concentrations, accounting for 34% of total requests, followed by the information and communications sector with 12% of requests, as shown in the following table:
