Indonesian Sovereign Wealth Fund Implements 26 Projects in Manufacturing Sector
Donny Oskaria, chief operating officer of Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund Danantara, said the fund is developing 26 projects in the manufacturing sector worth 225 trillion rupiah (about $12.4 billion), aiming to boost value-added product processing and create nearly 38,000 jobs.
The project portfolio spans mining, energy, and agriculture sectors, and includes construction of smelters for aluminum, stainless steel, and copper; production of sustainable aviation fuel and bioethanol; palm oil processing; development of coconut industries; and integrated poultry farming projects.
Oskaria explained on Monday that "transformative manufacturing not only attracts investment but also creates jobs, boosts regional economies, and ensures more added value remains in Indonesia," according to German news agency dpa.
The projects are being implemented in two phases. The first phase, launched on February 6, includes 6 priority projects across 13 sites with investments of 109 trillion rupiah (about $6 billion), and is expected to provide 11,500 jobs.
The second phase, launched on April 29, includes 10 priority projects across 13 sites with investments of 116 trillion rupiah (about $6.4 billion), and is expected to contribute 26,400 jobs.
