Jeddah Port Increases Container Handling by 26% in June
The Port of Jeddah Islamic recorded operational growth in June 2026, with total container handling increasing by 26.13% compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Saudi Ports Authority.
The data showed a 62.86% increase in inbound containers, while outbound containers rose by 40.14%, and total handled cargo tonnage increased by 11.48%.
The port also recorded a 177.22% increase in the number of handled vehicles, indicating growth in shipping and trade activity through one of the largest ports on the Red Sea.
Jeddah Islamic Port is the main maritime gateway for Saudi imports and exports via the Red Sea, handling a large share of maritime trade, and serving local and regional markets from its strategic location on one of the world's most important shipping lanes.
The improvement in the port's operational performance coincides with the Saudi Ports Authority's implementation of infrastructure and logistics development programs, as part of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy goals to enhance the efficiency of Saudi ports and solidify the Kingdom's position as a logistics hub linking three continents.
