Emmanuel Moulin, Governor of the Bank of France, said on Friday that the tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump's administration on several trading partners would increase the uncertainty surrounding the global economy.

On Friday, the Trump administration imposed new tariffs of 10 percent and 12.5 percent on imports from 60 trading partners, including the European Union and China, over allegations of lax enforcement of the forced labor ban, coinciding with the expiration of the temporary global tariff of 10 percent.

Moulin added that despite the need for Trump to comply with the terms of the trade agreement reached with the European Union in 2025 at the Turnberry golf resort in Scotland, these tariffs still pose an obstacle to global trade.

Moulin said in an interview with BFM Business TV: 'For Europe, the situation should not change significantly, because we have the Turnberry agreement which Donald Trump must respect. But it is clear that this increases uncertainty in global trade, and it is also clear that it does not serve growth.'"); googletag.cmd.push(function() { onDvtagReady(function () { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-3341368-4'); }); }); }
