Minister of Transport during inauguration of largest truck staging area in Jeddah Port: 27 new shipping lines and contracts worth 1 billion riyals
Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Saleh Al-Jasser announced, in an interview with Al Arabiya Business on the sidelines of the inauguration of the world's largest truck staging area at the Islamic Port of Jeddah, the ministry's success in smoothly moving trade traffic from east to west.
Al-Jasser explained that since the beginning of the Iranian crisis, 27 new shipping lines have been added to support trade traffic through Saudi ports.
The minister pointed out that 7 new contracts were signed today with a total value of 1 billion riyals, coinciding with the inauguration of the new truck staging area.
Al-Jasser added that the volume of investments in logistics areas within the ports has reached 15 billion riyals, confirming that Maersk signed a contract today to expand its largest logistics area in Jeddah Port.
Massive capacity for the new staging area
For his part, Al-Jasser stated that the truck staging area at Jeddah Port came in response to the density of commercial traffic, as it has a capacity of up to 40,000 trucks per day.
