Oil prices rose for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday, after a new wave of US strikes on Iranian military targets fueled fears of a renewed full-scale conflict and disruption of supplies in the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States launched strikes on Iranian coastal defenses and missile sites on Wednesday after reimposing a naval blockade on Iranian ports, while Iran threatened to disrupt more energy exports from the region, saying it is fighting a "war of survival" with the United States.

Brent crude futures rose 33 cents, or 0.4%, to $85.28 a barrel by 00:26 GMT, while US West Texas Intermediate crude futures increased 42 cents, or 0.5%, to $80.02 a barrel.
