Quarterly Results Push Saudi Market Above 10,750 Points
Summary: The Saudi main market index "TASI" ended its session up 77 points, or 0.7 percent, closing at 10,775 points, driven by rises in "Saudi National Bank", "Yansab", "SABIC", "Ma'aden", and a number of leading companies.
The Saudi market moved on an upward trajectory during the session, with the index recording a low of 10,706 points before buying operations gradually increased, closing at the session's high of 10,775 points, with gains of 77 points.
Trading value reached about 3.8 billion riyals ($1.01 billion), compared to about 4.1 billion riyals ($1.09 billion) in yesterday's Tuesday session, a decline of 300 million riyals ($80 million), or 7.3 percent.
Closing at the daily high is one of the most prominent positive signals in the session, as it reflects continued demand until the last minutes, and the market's success in overcoming the effects of the decline recorded in yesterday's session, when the index fell below 10,700 points under pressure from banking and leading company stocks. This performance also reveals the return of positive momentum to the market, after the index managed to surpass the psychological barrier of 10,700 points, then break through the 10,750 point level and close above it.
This rise gains additional importance because it came with participation from a number of key sectors, foremost among them banking, petrochemicals, mining, and energy, rather than relying on a single stock or a limited group of companies.
Liquidity declines despite the rise: Financial advisor Salem Al-Zahrani explained that despite the decline in liquidity, the index closing at its daily high indicates that buying operations were more effective, and sellers were unable to exert significant pressure during the session. However, the decline in trading remains a factor worth monitoring because a more sustainable continuation of the rise requires higher liquidity and broader participation, especially if the index attempts to advance towards higher levels. Thus, Wednesday's session was positive in terms of direction and the quality of rising stocks, but it needs greater support from liquidity to confirm its transformation into an extended upward wave.
Momentum of positive results: Al-Zahrani noted that the session showed that financial results continue to determine the direction of stocks. "Yansab" and "Aldrees" rose in recent sessions after positive results, while "Alinma", "Nadec", and "Eastern Pipes" declined after figures that fell short of expectations or triggered negative reactions. This means that liquidity does not move solely according to market direction, but quickly shifts between companies based on earnings quality and alignment with analysts' and investors' expectations. This pattern is likely to continue in the coming period with the succession of second-quarter announcements, keeping the disparity between stock performance clear even if the index maintains a positive trend.
He confirmed that TASI's stability above 10,750 points is a positive signal that may open the way to test the 10,800 point level, then the 10,850 point area, provided that support from banks and basic materials continues and liquidity rises. On the other hand, if selling pressures return, the 10,750 point level represents the first near support, followed by the 10,700 to 10,675 point range.
"Saudi National Bank" restores support: Regarding daily trading, financial researcher Abdulaziz Al-Rashid pointed out that "Saudi National Bank" stock led an important part of the market's gains, rising by three percent to 39.90 riyals ($10.64). The stock's rise extends its positive performance in recent sessions and indicates continued selective demand for banks that receive more positive assessments from investors.
"First Bank" stock rose among a group of stocks that achieved gains ranging between two and four percent, helping the banking sector regain some of its positive impact after being one of the main reasons for the market's decline in the previous session.
This shift reflects that the pressures faced by the banking sector in the previous session did not turn into an extended selling wave, but remained more related to each bank's results and investors' expectations of its performance.
"Yansab" results exceed expectations: "Yansab" stock rose by four percent to 32.56 riyals ($8.68), after the company announced second-quarter results for 2026 that exceeded market expectations. The positive investor reaction to the results confirmed the continued decisive role of quarterly announcements in directing stock movements, as the market rewards companies whose profits exceed estimates, while stocks with disappointing results face direct selling pressure.
Yansab's rise supported improved sentiment towards the petrochemical sector, especially with rises in "SABIC" and "Advanced" stocks within a range of between two and four percent. The broadening of gains within the sector is a better signal than a single stock rise, as it reflects a relative improvement in investor expectations for operating margins and demand for petrochemical products.
Leading stocks broaden the rise: Al-Rashid noted the rise of "SABIC", "Saudi Energy", "First Bank", "Ma'aden", "Advanced", "SAPTCO", and "AMAK" stocks by rates ranging between two and four percent. This performance shows that the rise was not limited to one sector but extended to basic materials, energy, mining, and transportation, giving the index a broader support base.
The rise of "SABIC" and "Ma'aden" contributed to enhancing market performance due to their weight and impact on the index, while the rise of "Saudi Energy" reflected the return of demand for some stocks linked to the industrial and energy sector. The breadth of participation in gains gives greater strength than rising sessions that depend on limited moves in leading stocks.
The "Saudi Pharmaceutical Industries" deal spurs the stock: "Saudi Pharmaceutical Industries" stock rose by four percent to 30.68 riyals ($8.18), after "Acadima" announced the sale of 10 percent of the company's capital to two investment funds. The stock's rise reflects positive investor interaction with the entry of new institutional investors, as such deals are typically seen as an indicator of long-term investment interest in the company. The deal may also contribute to enhancing the stock's liquidity and broadening the shareholder base, which supported demand for it during the session.
Selective declines outside the general trend: In contrast, "Research and Media", "MBC", "Saudi German", "Mutakamila", "Solutions", and "Al-Mawarid" stocks declined by rates ranging between one and four percent. This disparity confirms the continued selective nature of the market, as gains did not include all stocks but were concentrated in companies with clearer results, news, or catalysts. The decline of a number of media, technology, and healthcare stocks reflects profit-taking or a reallocation of liquidity towards banks, petrochemicals, and basic materials.
"Eastern Pipes" hits the lower limit: "Eastern Pipes" stock fell by the maximum percentage to 198.90 riyals ($53.04), following the company's announcement of its financial results for the first quarter ended last June. This indicates that the results fell short of investor aspirations or raised concerns about profitability levels or future operational expectations.
