SABIC and Ceer collaborate to build supply chain for electric vehicle industry

SABIC, a diversified chemicals company, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Ceer, the first Saudi automotive brand and original equipment manufacturer (OEM), to explore potential collaboration opportunities in the use of advanced materials and innovative solutions in the design, development, and manufacturing of electric vehicles, and to assess mutually beneficial business opportunities, according to a statement today.
The MoU was signed at SABIC’s headquarters in Riyadh, attended by Dr. Faisal bin Mohammed Al-Faqeer, CEO of SABIC and Executive Board Member, and Engineer James DeLuca, CEO of Ceer.

Exploring strategic supply opportunities
The MoU serves as a general framework to discuss the development and innovation of solutions and products by assessing opportunities to use advanced materials produced by SABIC in certain automotive applications manufactured by Ceer, developing materials and processing solutions to meet manufacturing needs, and exchanging information and expertise related to sustainability and technology to support Ceer’s goals in engineering and product development.
The MoU also aims to discuss potential collaboration opportunities by exploring strategic supply opportunities, and identifying and following up on additional areas of cooperation, ensuring the building of a local supply chain with global standards for the emerging electric vehicle industry in Saudi Arabia, in addition to identifying and following up on additional areas of joint cooperation agreed upon by the two parties.

Dr. Faisal Al-Faqeer said: 'This MoU represents a step toward strategic collaboration that leverages SABIC’s global expertise in advanced material solutions for the electric vehicle industry. Through this cooperation, we look forward to accelerating innovation, enhancing local content, and building an integrated national supply chain that supports the sector’s global competitiveness.'

Developing the next generation of electric vehicles
For his part, CEO of Ceer James DeLuca said: 'This strategic collaboration with SABIC represents a pivotal step in Ceer’s journey toward designing, engineering, and manufacturing world-class electric vehicles here in Saudi Arabia. To develop the next generation of electric vehicles that lead in efficiency, safety, and performance, we are partnering with leading global companies that share our commitment to innovation.'
