Abdulmajeed Al-Amoudi, director of one of the centers of the global brand 'Trek' for distributing and selling bicycles in Saudi Arabia, said that the Saudi market is witnessing growth in demand due to the increasing number of bicycle sports practitioners, the expansion of sports groups that attract various categories from beginners to professionals, in addition to the spread of bicycle tracks in most city neighborhoods.

The growth in bicycle imports led to a parallel boom in supporting services, evident in the sector of bicycle tires, which recorded a notable increase last year, as the number of imported tires exceeded 241 thousand tires worth 1.6 million riyals, compared to about 185 thousand tires worth 1.3 million riyals in the previous year, achieving an increase of 30% in quantity and 23% in value, according to 'Statistics' data.
Al-Amoudi said that fitness 'hybrid' bikes top sales, as they meet the needs of most users and suit both sports and daily use simultaneously.
'Hybrid bikes' combine the speed and lightness of road bikes with the control power of mountain bikes, and provide an upright and comfortable riding position supported by medium tires that achieve the perfect balance and stability on asphalt roads and paved dirt tracks.
Prices start from 500 riyals and reach up to 100,000
Al-Amoudi pointed out that popular bike prices start from about 500 riyals, while professional bikes for adults start from about two thousand riyals.
The prices of professional bikes for teams participating in international races and tours, as Al-Amoudi says, can range between 90,000 and 100,000 riyals, while the prices of bikes purchased by amateurs and advanced users range between 10,000 and 40,000 riyals, depending on specifications and equipment.
The age group most inclined to buy bicycles is between 25 and 35 years, with increasing demand also from users over 50 years, while demand from expatriate workers remains limited due to the high prices of professional bikes, although some of them opt for medium-value bikes to commute to their nearby work.
Expectations of continued momentum in the coming years
For his part, Mohammed Abdulsalam, sales manager at one of the bicycle sales centers in Dammam, said that demand for acquiring bicycles is increasing for use in sports and daily commuting, expecting sales growth to continue in the coming years with the expansion of bicycle track projects in cities such as Riyadh, Dammam, and Jeddah.
He confirmed that higher prices are usually associated with European and American brands specialized in racing, while Taiwan, China, and India remain the main centers for manufacturing the bulk of bicycles globally.
He added that the market offers options that suit different consumer segments, as prices start from about 500 riyals, while professional bike prices exceed 60,000 riyals, depending on the brand and technical specifications such as light weight, high rigidity, professional transmission systems, and high-efficiency hydraulic brakes.
Meanwhile, prices of bicycles for children, beginners, and daily use range between 300 and 800 riyals, while prices of bicycles for urban commuting start from about 900 riyals and reach up to 1,500 riyals, and mountain and hybrid bike prices range between 1,600 and 4,200 riyals.

Sultan Al-Harbi, a specialist in bicycle trade and equipment, said that the growth in demand is now linked to changing consumer behavior and a trend towards purchasing high-quality products, along with the expansion of purchase options through online stores, which provided access to various brands and models.
He added that the expansion of community events and races has contributed to attracting new segments to practice cycling, as many beginners are keen to buy their first bikes and then gradually move to higher-priced and more professional categories, and he pointed out that demand is also growing for accessories and supportive equipment such as helmets, shoes, clothing, and performance measurement devices.
