The US dollar recorded a decline against the Chinese yuan in today's trading, with the exchange rate reaching 6.7972 yuan per dollar, compared to 6.7989 yuan at the close of trading last Friday, according to data from the China Foreign Exchange Trading System.

Chinese regulatory rules allow the yuan to rise or fall by up to 2% from the central parity rate set by the People's Bank of China in each trading session in the spot foreign exchange market, according to the Xinhua News Agency.

The central parity rate of the yuan against the dollar is determined daily based on the buying prices offered by major financial institutions before the start of interbank market trading.
