US Fast-Food Chains Expand Presence in China
Five Guys to open first branch in Beijing next month, joining other US chains expanding in China.
US burger chain Five Guys is targeting consumers in Chinese cities, as US fast-food chains expand their presence in China, according to the South China Morning Post.
The company announced last week that it will open its first branch in the Chinese capital Beijing next month, joining a group of US fast-food chains that have recently entered or accelerated their expansion in the Chinese market.
Analysts believe that chains such as Wendy's, Chili's, Texas Chicken, and Popeyes are seeking to capture a share of the world's second-largest consumer market, as they face saturation in their domestic markets.
Five Guys opened its first branch in China in Shanghai in 2021 and saw a large influx of customers.
The company plans to open three branches in Beijing at popular shopping centers targeting young consumers, with signs at these locations indicating an upcoming opening.
