US President Donald Trump has approved a 30-year civilian nuclear cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia that could open the door to uranium enrichment inside the kingdom, according to what the Wall Street Journal reported citing US administration officials.
The newspaper said the agreement includes a joint Saudi-U.S. study to assess the feasibility of uranium enrichment inside the kingdom.
It added that if the study concludes the project is feasible, American companies may build a uranium enrichment facility.
The agreement is scheduled to be signed by U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Minister of Energy and Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, before being sent to the U.S. Congress for review in the coming days.
