The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) called on establishments subject to excise tax to submit their tax returns for May and June 2026, by July 31, 2026 or earlier.

ZATCA urged establishments to expedite filing their returns through the website (https://zatca.gov.sa/) to avoid a penalty for failing to submit the return within the specified period, amounting to no less than 5% and no more than 25% of the tax value that should have been declared, in addition to a penalty for late payment of unpaid tax, amounting to 5% of the unpaid tax amount for each month or part of a month of delay.

ZATCA also invited business establishments wishing to obtain more information about excise tax to contact it via the unified call center number (19993), operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, or via the "Ask Zakat, Tax and Customs" account on the X platform (@Zatca_Care), email ([email protected]), or through instant chat on the authority's website.

Excise tax is one of the tax systems in force in the Kingdom, imposed on goods with negative effects on public health or the environment at varying rates, including energy drinks, sweetened beverages, and tobacco and its derivatives.
