Morocco's annual inflation rate, measured by the consumer price index, fell to 0.3% in June, compared to 1.2% in the previous month of May, driven by a 2.3% decline in food prices, according to data released by the Central Statistics Agency on Wednesday.

The core inflation index, which excludes products with volatile prices and those subject to administrative pricing, recorded a monthly increase of 0.2% in June 2026, while it declined by 0.1% compared to the same month last year.

The data showed that the decline in food prices was mainly due to a 5.2% decrease in vegetable prices, a 1.9% drop in milk, cheese, and egg prices, as well as a 0.3% decline each in meat, bread, and cereal prices, and a 0.1% fall in oils and fats.

In contrast, some food products saw price increases; fish and seafood prices rose by 3.4%, fruits by 0.8%, and coffee, tea, and cocoa by 0.2%.
