The Visual Arts Commission, in conjunction with the release of its 2025 annual report, reviewed its key achievements, programs, and initiatives implemented throughout the year, which contributed to supporting the visual arts sector, empowering artists and practitioners, and enhancing the presence of Saudi creativity locally and internationally.

The Commission’s exhibitions, programs, and initiatives attracted over 33,100 visitors during the year, most notably the 'Sira wa Maseera' exhibition that celebrated the artistic legacy of pioneering Saudi artist Saad Al-Abeed, along with 'Riyadh Art Week,' which provided a platform bringing together artists, galleries, cultural institutions, and the public through a diverse program of exhibitions and artistic and cultural events.

The Commission also organized the third edition of the 'Kingdom Photography Award,' accompanied by the exhibitions 'When the Fog Whispers' and 'Hayy Aynak' in the Jameel district of Jeddah, before the 'Hayy Aynak' exhibition moved to the 'Abazia' building in Venice, Italy, presenting examples of contemporary Saudi photography to an international audience.

As part of its efforts to strengthen Saudi cultural presence globally, the Commission organized the exhibition 'Ahmed Mater: The Aerial' in Shanghai as part of the Saudi-Chinese Cultural Year activities, contributing to expanding the horizons of cultural exchange and introducing Saudi visual arts on international platforms.

In terms of supporting and empowering practitioners, over 380 artists, curators, and practitioners benefited from the programs and initiatives offered by the Commission, out of more than 1,920 applications received through open calls. These programs included 'Liqa Residency,' the 'Art Mentorship and Guidance Program,' 'Jusoor Art,' 'Zawaya wa Afkar,' in addition to a series of open dialogues that enhanced knowledge exchange, professional development, and opportunities for international collaboration.

During the year, the Commission implemented over 160 visual arts activations across various regions of the Kingdom, along with cultural exchange programs, artistic residencies, and participation in a number of international exhibitions and events, contributing to the growth of the visual arts sector and expanding the scope of participation and communication among its components.
