Poet Abdullah Abiyan returns to the national opera space with a new work titled 'Your Path is Green,' to be presented at the opening of the Najran Summer 2026 Festival, organized by the Najran Region Municipality under the patronage of Prince Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaid, Governor of the region.

The opera is composed by Ibrahim Al-Jalal and performed by artists Saleh Khairi, Hussein Al-Ali, and Hussein Al Labid, in a vocal trio that paints a national tableau intertwining land and people, presenting Najran as one of the Saudi cities that encapsulates the depth of history and the authenticity of belonging.

A musical fingerprint that blends authenticity with Najrani heritage.

Poet Abdullah Abiyan revealed to 'Sabq' that the work carries a musical fingerprint combining the spirit of national songs with the warmth of rhythms inspired by Najrani heritage, in harmony that matches the poetic meanings and gives them an impactful emotional breadth.

Abiyan added: 'The collective performance of the three artists adds vocal diversity that enriches its scenes, as their presence integrates in presenting the text with a unified spirit while preserving the personality and expressive space of each voice.'

He emphasized that 'these elements are reflected in a work that bets on the power of words, melody, balanced musical arrangement, and harmony of voices, to present a national tableau celebrating Najran, its governor, and its people, translating feelings of pride and belonging in a distinctive language.'

A deep-rooted experience in national poetry.

Abdullah Abiyan is considered one of the most prominent national opera poets in the Kingdom. He has established his presence over decades through texts that combine poetic grandeur and national dimension. He has participated in major national events, performed before the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz (may Allah have mercy on him), and recited the opening poem of the Janadriyah Festival before the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

Among his most prominent works is the opera 'Mawkib al-Ghaym' (Cloud Procession), composed by the late musician Mohammed Shafiq and performed by an elite of Saudi song stars, including Abbadi al-Jowhar, Abdul Majeed Abdullah, Rabeh Saqer, Aseel Abu Bakr, Abdullah Rashad, and Abdulaziz al-Mansour. His career was crowned by winning the 'Mu'allaqat al-Watan' award in the King Abdulaziz Competition for Folk Literature in 2019.

The nation as the core of the text, and Najran as its extension.

'Your Path is Green' maintains the most prominent feature of Abiyan's experience, making the nation the core of the text while Najran comes as an extension of this love. The opera begins with a national tableau affirming the unity of land and people, before moving on to celebrate Najran, its governor, its nature, and its history, in a poetic structure linking national identity to local belonging without separating them.

In this work, Abiyan relies on a language that combines simplicity of vocabulary with richness of imagery, investing in national and heritage symbols that give the text a cultural dimension beyond the occasion, making the poem suitable for collective recitation while preserving its literary value.

The opera also links place with the march of development and leadership, evoking the progress witnessed in the Najran region and appreciating the governor's sponsorship of the festival, in a vision that makes development an extension of identity and humans partners in shaping the future.
