Ajman, July 22 /WAM/ Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, the Ajman Tourism Development Department continues its preparations to launch the ninth edition of the Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival, one of the most prominent cultural festivals, at the Emirates Hospitality Hall in Ajman from July 24 to 28.

Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ajman Tourism Development Department, said: 'The Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival represents a vital platform to highlight the status of palm trees and dates in Emirati society and reflects the importance of this product as a symbol of national identity and heritage values. Through this festival, we aim to enhance the sustainability of the heritage and agricultural sectors in the country.'

He added that dates are not just an agricultural product but part of the Emirati cultural fabric that reflects their history and rich heritage. Through the festival's activities, they work to support and promote a culture of agriculture in Emirati society and contribute to achieving environmental and economic sustainability in this vital sector.

For his part, His Excellency Mahmoud Khaleel Al Hashemi, Director General of the Ajman Tourism Development Department, said: 'The festival is one of the most prominent events that plays important heritage, agricultural, and economic roles and embodies Ajman's commitment to preserving heritage and promoting sustainable culture and agriculture. Through this festival, we aim to support the local community and revitalize economic activity in the region. We are committed to enhancing awareness and interest in local heritage and contributing to preserving the cultural values that represent the core of our national identity.'

All necessary preparations have been completed to ensure the festival's success, including the preparation of the main stage, the traditional market, and areas designated for educational workshops, in addition to coordination with farmers, beekeepers, small business owners, and artisans.

The festival includes a diverse daily program featuring artistic and heritage performances, competitions, and educational workshops catering to all age groups. It aims

to enhance the value of the palm tree as a symbol of Emirati authenticity and heritage, support farmers in Ajman and other emirates, as well as support beekeepers, artisans, and local talents.

The festival also bolsters the efforts of the Culture and Arts Office at the Ajman Tourism Development Department to incorporate artistic and cultural touches into most social and heritage events. Many entities participate by organizing workshops, such as the Ministry of Community Development, Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, and Sharjah Museums represented by Sharjah Fort, Sharjah Archaeology Museum, Sharjah World Museum, Sheikh Saeed bin Hamad Al Qasimi House, Al Naboodah House, and Khorfakkan Fort.

The traditional market includes 56 diverse shops, comprising a farmers' market and a honey market, in addition to stores for clothing and souvenirs specific to the Emirate of Ajman, showcased for the first time.

The total prize value of the festival is approximately 500,000 dirhams, ranging from 7,000 dirhams for first place, 5,000 dirhams for second place, and 3,000 dirhams for third place in each category: one category for the Northern Emirates, a second for other emirates, and a third for Ajman, dedicated to dates, citrus fruits, and honey.
