Paramount Pictures and Activision confirmed that the upcoming Call of Duty movie will take place in the Modern Warfare universe, during the Fanatics Fest event held in New York.
Film director Peter Berg revealed that the work will be based on this famous world in the series, opening the door for the appearance of characters such as Captain Price, Soap, Ghost, and Vladimir Makarov, although it has not yet been revealed whether the story will adapt the events of the games or present a completely new plot.

The film is scheduled to release on June 30, 2028, while story details and the cast remain under wraps. This announcement coincides with Activision's preparation to launch Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on October 23, 2026, on PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, in a step reflecting the expansion of the Modern Warfare universe across games and cinema together.
