Summer Triangle adorns the sky of the Northern Borders and turns its nights into a glowing canvas
The sky of the Northern Borders region is witnessing during these nights the appearance of the Summer Triangle, a prominent celestial formation consisting of three of the brightest stars in the sky: Vega, Altair, and Deneb. It is characterized by being easily visible to the naked eye after sunset, although it is not a constellation. An ordinary flight at an airport in the Italian city of Milan turned into an extraordinary scene after dense swarms of mosquitoes forced the low-cost airline Ryanair to evacuate two planes and temporarily suspend their takeoff, in a rare incident that caused a state of confusion at the airport and led to the delay of two international flights by more than 3 hours.
The incident occurred as passengers were preparing to board the two planes bound for Naples, Italy and Alicante, Spain, when the crew and passengers were surprised by the spread of large numbers of mosquitoes inside one of the planes, which prompted the implementation of precautionary evacuation procedures to ensure the safety of travelers.
Passenger Alice Piscietelli, who was preparing to travel to the city of Alicante, recounted the details of the incident and described it as an 'absurd scene' she had never seen before, confirming that the insects covered large parts of the cabin, while crew members tried to control the situation using electric tennis rackets designed for insect control.
She added that the flight crew deliberately turned off the cabin lights in an attempt to drive the mosquitoes out, while the screens of passengers' phones remained the only source of light inside the plane during the efforts to contain the situation.
After failing to eliminate the insects, Ryanair decided to transfer passengers to a replacement plane, which delayed the departure time by about 3 hours before the flight resumed normally.
The company has not yet issued a clarification regarding the reasons that led to the spread of mosquitoes inside the plane, but the incident sparked a wide wave of astonishment among travelers, who described what happened as one of the strangest incidents in the civil aviation sector.
