Not every poet is born to write words to be sung.. Some poets are born to create the memory of an entire country.
That is what this man did, who emerged from the light of Mecca, and from the warmth of deep artistic friendships, to become one of the pillars of Saudi lyrical poetry, and one of the makers of the artistic identity that still resonates in the heart until today.
Nasser bin Jareed was a poet at his core, but he was no ordinary poet. He was an extension of a vibrant artistic era, and the beginning of a new turn in Saudi song; for him, the word was not a verbal ornament, but a life breathing within the melody, an image blooming in the artist's voice.
The poet of hidden love and the maker of taste. Those who know the journey of Saudi song realize that he is one of those who gave local song its own language. He wrote love quietly.. wrote the homeland with the passion of a lover.. and wrote the human with a sincere tone that never misses the heart.
His immortal song 'Sikkat al-Ta'ihin' is not just a work; it is an artistic signature that cannot be bypassed. It was composed by the dean of Saudi art, Tarik Abdulhakim, and made a major station in the history of song.
Likewise, the song 'Al-Layl Abu al-Asrar' sung by Abdullah Rashad, which carried that hidden magic latent in his words.
As for the homeland.. it had a large share of his spirit. Suffice it to mention 'Ya Abu al-Balad' sung by Talal Maddah, and 'Sur al-Balad Aali' by Mohammed Abdu, to realize that the man was not only a poet for the homeland, but a poet guarding the identity of an entire nation.
Between word and identity.. A journey of awareness and art
Nasser bin Jareed was not satisfied with presenting a beautiful lyrical text; he contributed to shaping the identity of Saudi song itself.
His extensive relationships with pillars of art such as Mohammed Abdu, Saad Ibrahim, Hayam Younes, and Fawzi Mahsoon, were part of shaping a broad Arab artistic scene, in which he was able to be a solitary voice without losing the echo of heritage.
And through editing the page 'Safinat Hanan' in the Saudi magazine Al-Yamama, he contributed to enriching the popular cultural scene with what deserves attention. He believed that popular language is not a passing dialect, but part of a memory that is inherited and preserved.
Between art and sports.. A vision linking beauty to human development
Few know that he was part of the Al-Hilal club system since its founding.
He believed that art and sports are not luxuries, but two pillars for building a balanced Saudi individual, combining aesthetic awareness and intellectual and physical fitness.
This vision made him a multi-dimensional personality, transcending the boundaries of the poem into wider spaces.
He continued producing poetry until his last days, and some of this legacy was manifested in his collection 'Amal Baker', which carried deep human, national, and emotional images.
His friendship with the great poet Ibrahim Khafaji, and his strong relationship with Dean Tarik Abdulhakim, were not transient relationships, but bridges that created a complete artistic experience, extending from Mecca to Taif, from text to melody, from art to the heart.
Nasser bin Jareed.. A poet deserving of celebration, because he was not just a poet who passed through Saudi song.. He was one of those who built its identity, raised its beauty, and left an indelible mark in it. From 'Sikkat al-Ta'ihin' to the peaks of artistic glory.. 'Bin Jareed' remained a poet who never gets lost.. because he planted himself in the musical memory of a homeland that never forgets its creators.
