The Professional Literature Association enhances the presence of national literature with a lecture on Al-Fara'ah poets

The Al-Woshm branch of the Professional Literature Association is organizing a literary lecture titled "Poets from the Town of Al-Fara'ah" next Friday evening at the Amsiat Al-Reef Cafe in Al-Fara'ah. This is part of events aimed at highlighting local poetic experiences and celebrating literary pioneers in the region. Dr. Abdulatif bin Mohammed Al-Humaid, Head of the Literature Association branch in Al-Woshm, welcomed

the participants in the Al-Fara'ah poetry evening and noted the role of the Ministry of Culture, represented by the Professional Literature Association, which has thankfully established 61 literary branches in cities across the Kingdom, including the Al-Woshm branch headquartered at the Al-Woshm Heritage House in Shaqra Governorate.

Al-Humaid expressed his happiness that the event is being held in the town of Al-Fara'ah, which is rich in its history, heritage, men, and poets. He thanked the lecturer, Mr. Khalid Al-Fayez, the presenter, Mr. Ibrahim Al-Mousa, and the host, Mr. Mohammed bin عبدالعزيز Al-Fayez, owner of the Amsiat Al-Reef restaurant and cafe.

He also expressed his gratitude to the head of Al-Fara'ah center, Mr. Nawaf Al-Fayez, thanked his esteemed colleagues on the Al-Woshm branch committee, and everyone who attends, interacts, and encourages.

The lecture will be delivered by the poet Khalid bin عبدالعزيز Al-Fayez, who will review examples of Al-Fara'ah poets, their creative paths, and their contributions to both vernacular and Classical Arabic poetry scenes. He will also address the artistic features that distinguish their output and the role of the local environment in shaping their poetic experiences.

The session will be moderated by Ibrahim bin Sulaiman Al-Mousa, who will introduce discussions on the importance of documenting local literary experiences and connecting them to Al-Woshm's cultural memory, as these gatherings contribute to highlighting influential literary voices in their social and cultural surroundings. The cafe is expected to witness an attendance of those interested in literature and heritage, interacting with the readings and testimonies presented about the town's poets, in an evening that combines knowledge with loyalty to the local literary heritage.

This event comes within the framework of the Professional Literature Association's efforts to enhance the literary movement in various regions of the Kingdom through qualitative programs dedicated to reviving local experiences, empowering talents, and connecting literature to its social and cultural space. Through its branches in Al-Woshm, the association is keen to present initiatives that highlight the literary identity of the region and support the presence of writers and poets on cultural platforms.

Al-Fara'ah is considered one of the towns of the Al-Woshm region affiliated with Shaqra Governorate, northwest of the Riyadh region, with deep historical roots. It is characterized by its quiet rural environment and the interest of its people in education, literature, and agriculture, boasting fertile land and sweet water. The historian and writer Mr. Abdullah bin مساعد Al-Fayez says that it was formerly called "Al-Baseerah"—relative to Basra in Iraq—due to the abundance and quality of its palm trees and the sweetness of its water. It has produced a number of poets and writers who contributed to shaping the features of vernacular literature in the region. It is worth noting that since its formation, the Al-Woshm branch has organized literary evenings in Marat, Shaqra, Ushaqir, Al-Qasab, and Tharmuda, which received positive responses and heavy attendance from those interested in history, literature, and heritage.
