(CNN)-- Egyptian artist Mohamed Mounir spoke about his long-standing relationship with the late composer Hani Shnouda, who passed away at the age of 83 on Monday. His family received condolences for his loss on Tuesday at the "Virgin Mary" – "Marashli" church in the Zamalek district of the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

Mounir shared a photo of himself with the late composer on his official Instagram account, and wrote: "Today I lost my brother, my friend, and a companion of a long journey.. Today I lost Hani Shnouda."

The Egyptian artist, nicknamed "The King," added: "We started together, and our artistic journey was full of creativity. I was his voice that sang a new word from the dictionary of songs. We sang together 'Allamouni Eynayki,' 'Aman ya Bahr,' 'Betwald,' and 'Ghareeba,' and we presented to the great artist Najat 'Ana Ba'ashk el Bahr' and many songs from series and films."

Mounir continued speaking about his relationship with Shnouda: "My voice carried his messages, and the new messages of Abdel Rahim Mansour that we believed in.. Our journey together carried everything new and different. Before we met, Hani Shnouda and his companions were immersed in Western music, and together we presented a new music and singing style, and we shared the experience with great creators Abdel Rahim Mansour, Magdy Nagib, Abdel Azim Oweida, and Ahmed Moneeb."

Mounir concluded his eulogy for Shnouda, saying: "I bid farewell to the innovative musician Hani Shnouda with all words of sadness and grief, and I offer my sincere condolences to his family, his fans, and the entire artistic community."
