The Visual Arts Commission is organizing the 'Open Studio' event from July 28 to 30 in the JAX District in Diriyah, as part of the 'Liqa Residency' program, with the participation of a selection of local and international artists.

The event marks the conclusion of the second cycle of the 'Art Residency' program, which lasted three months in Riyadh and involved fourteen artists from Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, Serbia, China, Japan, and Palestine. The program focused on research, experimentation, and knowledge exchange, with artists developing new artistic projects covering various disciplines.

Participation of Saudi Cultural Institutions

The program saw contributions from the Diriyah Center for Future Arts, the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wrth), the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah), along with the King Fahd National Library and the National Museum. These contributions enriched the artists' experience and enhanced knowledge and expertise exchange among them.

Interactive Experience for the Public

The 'Open Studio' allows the public to tour the studios, view the artworks developed during the residency, and interact with artists and curators through a public program featuring screenings, workshops, and discussions, creating an opportunity for dialogue and testing works in their early stages.

The 'Liqa Residency' program is one of the initiatives through which the Visual Arts Commission aims to support artistic practices and enhance knowledge exchange, contributing to the development of the art scene in the Kingdom and achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
