Professor of Carcinogenesis Research Dr. Fahad Al-Khudairi revealed that the treatment of fatty liver primarily relies on lifestyle changes and managing associated health conditions, indicating that losing between 7% and 10% of body weight helps reduce fat, inflammation, and liver scarring.

Al-Khudairi explained that adopting a healthy diet is a fundamental pillar in this treatment, citing the Mediterranean diet as an ideal model, as it includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats like olive oil, with the necessity of avoiding sugar and refined carbohydrates.

He added that physical activity is an integral part of the treatment plan, recommending exercise for at least 150 minutes per week, while emphasizing the importance of controlling comorbid conditions, including managing blood sugar, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels.

Al-Khudairi concluded that improving lifestyle and managing associated health factors remain among the most effective approaches in dealing with fatty liver and reducing its complications.
