Health / Average Human Lifespan: The Indicator That Gathers the Health System's Efforts into Impact

Riyadh, Safar 3, 1448 AH, corresponding to July 17, 2026, SPA — In the health sector, the value of achievements is fulfilled when they reflect on human health and quality of life. From this perspective, the average human lifespan in the Kingdom emerges as the most comprehensive indicator, embodying the outcome of the efforts of the Ministry of Health and the health system in integration with various government entities in developing healthcare services, improving quality of life, and enhancing prevention, enabling people to live longer and healthier lives. The Kingdom continues to achieve rapid progress in this indicator, as a fruit of the transformation journey led by the Kingdom's Vision 2030 to develop the health sector and enhance quality of life. The average lifespan in the Kingdom rose from 77.6 years in 2022 to 78.8 years in 2023, then to 79.7 years in 2024, approaching the target of 80 years by 2030, reflecting the cumulative impact of health reforms, the integration of health system efforts, and the supervisory and regulatory role of the Ministry of Health within the health transformation journey. The rise in the average human lifespan in the Kingdom reflects the progress of health efforts in promoting preventive health, based on the concept of prevention before treatment, along with efforts to improve the quality of healthcare, facilitate access to services, enhance the efficiency of chronic disease management, and integrate levels of care, in addition to the integration of government entities' efforts in the Ministerial Health Committee across all policies, embodying the whole-of-government approach that places human health at the center of national development. This progress reflects the health system's continued building of a more integrated and efficient care model that places people at its core and enhances the sustainability of health gains and quality of life. // End // 14:08 Mecca Time 0057
