Jeddah Municipality destroyed more than 4.5 tons of food and meat of unknown origin and unfit for consumption during a joint field campaign in the Al-Faisaliya district, resulting in the seizure and closure of 5 random sites used for illegal commercial activities in a residential area.

Yasser bin Saraj Bakhsh, Director General of Monitoring and Addressing Negative Phenomena at the municipality, explained that inspection teams monitored the exploitation of several residential apartments for illegal commercial and food activities, including restaurants, kitchens, food processing facilities, catering services, and barbershops, operating in environments lacking health and regulatory requirements.

He indicated that the campaign resulted in the destruction of quantities of meat of unknown origin and food prepared illegally, confiscation of used equipment, and closure of violating sites. The materials fit for consumption were handed over to the 'Hifz Al-Ni'mah' Association (Istadama), and legal measures were taken against violators. Bakhsh added that field teams also monitored the use of violating buildings as housing for workers, noting that the campaign was carried out with support from the Al-Matar Sub-Municipality and participation from several relevant authorities.
