The medical team at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Sabya General Hospital, part of the Jazan Health Cluster, successfully performed a specialized surgical operation to reconstruct the lower jaw of a female patient in her fourth decade of life, after she was diagnosed with a rapidly growing ossifying fibroma. This achievement reflects the efficiency of the medical staff and the specialized capabilities provided by the hospital.

The medical team explained that the patient was referred from the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Diseases at the Jazan Dental Center, after suffering from a tumor in the lower jaw. She underwent precise clinical and radiological examinations, along with a biopsy of the tumor, which confirmed a diagnosis of ossifying fibroma—a benign tumor that gradually grows and replaces normal bone with calcified tissue, necessitating surgical intervention to preserve jaw function and the patient's quality of life.

The medical team stated that, after studying the case and developing an appropriate treatment plan, the affected part of the lower jaw was removed with a safe margin of healthy tissue to minimize the risk of recurrence. The jaw was then reconstructed using a portion of the hip bone and fixed with a titanium plate, effectively restoring form and function.

The surgery lasted about five hours and was performed after meticulous surgical planning. It was, praise be to God, successful. The patient was discharged from the hospital after her condition stabilized and she completed the initial recovery phase, with a regular follow-up program scheduled to ensure the best treatment outcomes.
