What Is 'Decaf' Coffee and Is It Completely Caffeine-Free?
Decaf coffee is not completely caffeine-free, as it still contains small amounts of caffeine after the removal process, which removes at least 97% of the original caffeine.
The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine revealed that the term 'Decaf' is an abbreviation of the word 'Decaffeinated', and is used for coffee from which 97% or more of the caffeine has been removed.
The center explained that Decaf coffee is not completely free of caffeine, as it may contain small amounts even after the removal process, which should be taken into account for people sensitive to caffeine or those who avoid it for health reasons.
