Riyadh, 21 Muharram 1448 AH corresponding to July 6, 2026 AD – The Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wrth) has announced the opening of registration for its academic programs for 2026, continuing to build a specialized educational system that contributes to the development of the traditional arts sector and qualifys national talents with academic knowledge and creative skills through international partnerships with specialized institutions in the field of performing arts. This year, the institute is offering two academic programs introduced for the first time in the Kingdom: a Master's in Performing Arts and an Associate Diploma in Movement Performance. Both will be delivered in person at the institute's headquarters in Riyadh, with studies set to begin in September 2026. The Master's in Performing Arts is an advanced academic program aimed at preparing researchers and practitioners capable of studying, analyzing, and reshaping performing arts within their cultural and contemporary contexts through a curriculum that combines theoretical study, scientific research, and practical application. The program is implemented in partnership with the Liverpool Media Academy (LMA), making it one of the first specialized programs of its kind in the Kingdom. The institute also offers the Associate Diploma in Movement Performance, which focuses on preparing a new generation of professional performers through an integrated training program inspired by traditional movement aesthetics in the Kingdom while keeping pace with contemporary artistic practices. This develops performance and creative skills, enhances students' ability for artistic expression, and enriches their participation in the growing cultural landscape and performing arts scene in the Kingdom. The program is implemented in partnership with the Korea National University of Arts (K'ARTS). These programs embody Wrth's direction toward establishing itself as a national reference in teaching and developing traditional arts within specialized academic frameworks, thereby empowering national talents, enriching the cultural scene, and connecting Saudi traditional arts with contemporary creative practices locally and globally.
