29 Days to Seize University Seats
While the national unified admissions platform "Qubool" continues to update additional opportunities every 24 hours until August 2, thousands of students await the final stage of the university admissions cycle, known as "continuation of remaining opportunities," which runs from August 3 to August 31. This stage allows students to benefit from seats that remain vacant after the results announcement and confirmation of choice stages, as well as additional opportunities, giving them a last chance to secure a university seat or improve their academic options before the start of the academic year.
Fulfilling Desires Education expert Abdullah Al-Sultan told Al-Watan that the continuation of remaining opportunities stage comes after all main comparison processes and redistribution of vacant seats resulting from some students not confirming their acceptance or withdrawing have been exhausted. He explained that the mechanism of this stage differs from the additional opportunities stage, as it does not rely on announcing new batches of results. Instead, it allows students to review vacant seats that appear gradually in participating universities and colleges and apply directly whenever they meet the conditions. He pointed out that this stage provides an opportunity for students who did not receive acceptance during the results announcement and additional opportunities stages. It also includes those who lost their seats due to not confirming acceptance within the specified period, as well as those who voluntarily canceled their acceptance in previous stages. Additionally, it includes students who have confirmed their university seats and wish to transfer to another major or university if an opportunity that fulfills their academic desires becomes available. Approved Controls Al-Sultan emphasized that one of the most common misconceptions among students is the belief that merely entering the continuation of remaining opportunities stage or reviewing available opportunities leads to losing their current seat. He explained that a student who has previously confirmed their acceptance retains their seat throughout the period of reviewing and applying for opportunities. Their acceptance is only canceled if they themselves decide to confirm a new opportunity. In that case, the previous seat is automatically canceled and replaced by the new acceptance. Therefore, students should not confirm any opportunity until they are sure it represents the best option. He added that the appearance of opportunities in this stage does not mean that all specializations are available to all students, as the available seats are subject to the approved admission controls of each university, in terms of weighted grade, meeting program requirements, seat availability at the time of application, and the applicability of controls specific to each category. He noted that a student can only benefit from this stage once, as confirming acceptance in a new opportunity is a final decision that prevents them from moving to another opportunity within the same stage. Improving Options Al-Sultan advised students to continuously monitor the "Qubool" platform throughout the continuation of remaining opportunities period, as seats may appear or disappear at any time depending on admission and withdrawal movements. He stressed the importance of carefully reading the conditions of each program before making the decision to confirm acceptance, as this decision is final and results in the cancellation of the previous acceptance. He pointed out that this stage represents the last stop in the university admissions journey and a real opportunity for students who were not successful in previous stages, as well as for those wishing to improve their academic options before the start of studies. Beneficiaries of Remaining Opportunities 01 Non-accepted: Those who did not receive acceptance in the results or additional opportunities and have the right to apply for vacant seats. 02 Non-confirmed: Those who did not confirm their acceptance and lost their seats, and can reapply. 03 Canceled acceptance: Those who previously canceled their acceptance and can return to compete for available seats. 04 Those wishing to transfer: Accepted students who have confirmed their seats and want to transfer to another major or university without losing their current seats until after confirming the new acceptance.
