Parks and gardens recorded a growth of 4% last year, as the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, through its affiliated municipalities and secretariats, continues to implement projects for parks, gardens and green spaces in various regions of the Kingdom, as part of its efforts to improve the urban landscape, enhance quality of life, and provide recreational and sports outlets for residents, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, while the parks of Riyadh region exceeded the parks of 7 regions combined, namely: Hafr Al-Batin, Northern Borders, Najran, Al-Baha, Al-Jouf, Al-Ahsa, and Tabuk, by 18%, making it the most park-rich region in the Kingdom. The success of the secretariats is confirmed by the indicators of park implementation, demonstrating their expansion in creating parks that meet the needs of residents, while maintaining a balance between population density and open spaces, and providing more sustainable and attractive urban environments. The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing and the secretariats play a pivotal role in planning, establishing parks, increasing green spaces, implementing afforestation projects, rehabilitating public facilities, developing walkways and recreational areas, maintaining and operating parks, and enhancing partnership with the private sector in investing in municipal facilities. Five contributions: Five positives and efforts contribute to the implementation of parks, namely: improving air quality, lowering temperatures within cities, encouraging exercise, enhancing social cohesion, and supporting environmental sustainability, making parks one of the most important elements for improving quality of life in the cities and governorates of the Kingdom. 4% growth: The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing report for 2025 revealed a 4% growth in parks, reaching 8,249 parks compared to 7,955 in 2024. The total area of parks reached 286,122,710 m², while green space area reached 245,248,994 m². Riyadh region had the largest share of parks, with 1,479 parks (18%), followed by Al-Qassim region with a total of 1,100 parks (13%), then the Eastern Province with 956 parks (12%), Jeddah with 907 parks (11%), Asir with 694 parks (8%), Taif with 543 parks (7%), Hail with 417 parks (5%), Jazan with 328 parks (4%), Makkah with 326 parks (3.95%), and Medina with 293 parks (3.55%). In contrast, Hafr Al-Batin had the fewest parks with 115, followed by Northern Borders with 149, Najran with 164, Al-Baha with 178, Al-Jouf with 180, Al-Ahsa with 191, and Tabuk with 229.
