Two sibling children died early Monday morning after suffering suffocation from a fire that broke out in a residential apartment in the town of Umm al-Hamam in Qatif Governorate. Their parents and a third child are receiving medical care at the hospital after their health condition stabilized.

Defect in the air conditioner

Ali Hilal, the maternal uncle of the injured father, told "Al-Youm" that the incident resulted in the death of the child Zahra Ayman Tawfiq Hilal, aged 12, and her brother Youssef, aged 7. He explained that preliminary indicators suggest the fire started due to a defect in the air conditioner.

He pointed out that the family was preparing to leave the rented apartment and move to a new home just two days after the incident. He added that the father, mother, and their three-year-old child survived the incident and are currently in stable health condition.

He mentioned that the family was busy moving their furniture and preparing their belongings for the new home before the fire broke out suddenly at dawn. He explained that efforts are underway to deal with the repercussions of the painful incident that surprised the family members while they were asleep.
