The Ministry of Tourism has mandated investors in the camps sector to provide first aid kits and an automated external defibrillator (AED), exempting small camps (with a capacity of less than 50 beds) from providing the device. The Ministry defined 'camps' as including tents, caravans, and mobile homes in natural environments. It set criteria and grades that must be met to obtain a first-class or economy classification. The new rules require camps to be enclosed with eco-friendly fences and barriers, provide non-cash payment options via bank cards, and require camps according to their classification to provide a restaurant offering three meals a day or two meals, allocate parking spaces, and provide special services for people with disabilities. The rules adopted by the Ministry prohibit the storage or use of hazardous or toxic waste, as well as hunting, feeding, or exploiting wild animals for entertainment. The Ministry urged investors to use water-saving devices installed on every faucet and bidet, inform guests about environmental protection measures, prevent direct or indirect pollution of surface and groundwater, and ensure safe disposal of medical, industrial, and household waste. The temperature in an occupied camp unit must be between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius, and in an unoccupied unit between 26 and 27 degrees Celsius. A price list must be provided at the reception area in both Arabic and English. Investors are committed to placing directional signs for all services and facilities within the camp area, ensuring ease of movement for guests and encouraging the use of sustainable materials.
