In recent years, Jazan has witnessed a growing cultural movement that has expanded community participation in cultural activities through organizing events and festivals, supporting creative initiatives, empowering talents, and enhancing the presence of performing arts, reflecting the interest in developing the cultural sector, preserving heritage, and presenting it to new generations with modern methods that maintain its authenticity. Folk arts in Jazan are among the most prominent expressions of local identity, carrying inherited performing arts that reflect the region's cultural diversity and document aspects of its social history, authentic values, and inherited customs, which has contributed to their continued presence in national occasions and cultural events, making them part of the popular memory of the region's people. The director of the Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts branch in Jazan, Issa Ghazawi, explained that the region has great diversity in its folk arts, hosting more than 35 performing and folkloric arts distributed across the three natural environments: plain, mountain, and sea, with their practice continuing and being passed down through generations. He indicated that the plain arts include a number of performing arts, most notably: Al-Saif, Li'b Al-Azzawi, Al-Mu'ashsha, Al-Zeifa, Al-Dala', Al-Damma, Al-Ardha Al-Jazaniyya, Al-Zamil, Al-Jaish, Al-Rabsh, Al-Khatwa, and Al-Tariq. The mountain environment hosts multiple arts, most notably: Al-Has'ah, Al-Dawriyya, Al-Shariqi, Al-Takthira, Al-Marbakha, Al-Rawha, Al-Shahriyya, Al-Turuq, Al-Hadi, Al-Damma, Al-Barha, Al-Safqa, and Al-Ardha.
