When Awareness Meets Responsibility: The Example of Qassim Region Emirate - Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Atiq
In a world where ideas compete and means of influence race to shape minds, intellectual security is no longer a cultural luxury or a topic reserved for special occasions, but has become a national necessity that affects the present and future of societies. How many nations have not been defeated by force of arms, but were infiltrated by weakness when purveyors of whims succeeded in penetrating minds, sowing doubts, destabilizing constants, and weakening the trust between citizens and their homeland?
From this perspective, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has devoted great attention to intellectual security, realizing that building a conscious individual is the fundamental pillar for any development and stability. This interest has been embodied in numerous programs, initiatives, and forums aimed at promoting values of moderation and centrism, consolidating national belonging, and protecting youth from extremist ideas and suspicious calls that target the nation's security and unity.
When this aspect is mentioned, the Emirate of Qassim Region offers a commendable model through the continuous efforts of its Intellectual Security Unit, supported and followed up by His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Emir of Qassim Region, who is known for his great interest in this file and his deep belief in the importance of intellectually fortifying society and enhancing awareness among youth and the younger generation.
I personally had the honor of participating in some work related to intellectual security, and was honored to attend a number of meetings and programs held in this regard. What I closely observed was His Highness's keenness to transform the message of intellectual security from a theoretical concept into sustainable institutional work, through organizing specialized seminars, hosting experts and specialists, and providing opportunities for purposeful dialogue that addresses youth issues and the challenges of the era.
The impact of these efforts was not limited to the attendees of those events, but extended through various media outlets to reach broad segments of society, carrying messages of awareness, moderation, and national belonging. These efforts reflect a deep understanding that protecting homelands begins with protecting minds, and that building awareness is the most important investment in confronting any deviant thought or misleading call.
Intellectual security is a shared responsibility that integrates the roles of the family, school, mosque, media, and all state institutions. However, its success remains contingent upon the existence of a conscious citizen who appreciates the value of his homeland and believes that preserving its security and stability is a national duty no less important than any other duty.
When awareness meets responsibility, and a vigilant leadership meets a conscious society, the nation's immunity is strengthened, the bets of rumor-mongers and those lying in wait are dashed, and the homeland remains, God willing, stronger, more cohesive, and more capable of facing challenges.
