His Highness Prince Abdullah bin Faisal bin Farhan, Director General of the General Department of International Cooperation at the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, handed over the presidency of the 50th session to the Mauritanian Red Crescent.

This took place during the opening of the 50th session of the General Assembly of the organization, held in Nouakchott, Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

The Saudi Red Crescent Authority affirmed that the 49th session of the General Assembly of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization, which the Authority was honored to host and preside over, witnessed enhanced dialogue and consultation among national associations, development of preparedness programs, and expansion of cooperation and partnership areas, contributing to supporting joint Arab humanitarian action. His Highness said: "As we conclude the presidency of the 49th session, I am pleased to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to the member national associations and the General Secretariat of the Organization for the sincere cooperation, fraternal spirit, and shared responsibility that greatly contributed to the success of the past session's work and the achievement of several accomplishments."

Celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the Organization

Prince Abdullah bin Faisal bin Farhan added that the Authority's hosting and presidency of the 49th session coincided with the celebration of the Organization's Golden Jubilee, an occasion embodying 50 years of joint Arab humanitarian action, noting that the achievements during the session resulted from the cooperation of national associations and the support of the General Secretariat, led by the Organization's Secretary-General Abdullah bin Suhail Al-Muhailidi. He expressed his thanks to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, government and people, and to the Mauritanian Red Crescent for their hospitality and excellent preparation and organization, affirming his confidence that the presidency of the 50th session will add a bright page to the Organization's march, strengthening the unity of national associations and developing joint Arab humanitarian action. His Highness wished the 50th session success and that its outcomes contribute to supporting the efforts of national associations and enhancing coordination among them, in a way that meets the aspirations of Arab peoples and alleviates the suffering of those in need.
