From Highlands to Farms: Taif Redefines Tourism Through Environmental and Rural Diversity
Taif Governorate has witnessed a transformation in its tourism experience, as it is no longer limited to visiting the highlands and enjoying the moderate climate, but has expanded to include rural, environmental, and entertainment tourism, reflecting the diversity of natural and cultural elements that distinguish the governorate.
Rural tourism specialist Bassam Ahmed explained that visitors to Taif can now, in a single day, move between mountain highlands, rural resorts and lodges, farms, wildlife sites, heritage markets, and entertainment facilities, which gives the governorate a competitive advantage among tourist destinations in the Kingdom.
Growth of resorts and ecotourism
A report by the Saudi Press Agency indicated that Taif has witnessed in recent years growth in resorts and rural lodges that invest in the mountainous environment and surrounding farms to offer an integrated tourism experience that combines accommodation in nature, agricultural activities, cultural and artistic events, fruit-picking tours, along with family programs that strengthen the visitor's connection to local heritage.
In the same context, ecotourism has emerged as one of the promising patterns in Taif, as it allows visitors to explore wildlife, see deer and local and migratory birds, and engage in safari experiences and hiking on mountain trails, contributing to an experience that combines entertainment and environmental education, and enhances the preservation and sustainability of natural resources.
Boosting local economy and supporting investment
Bassam Ahmed added that the integration of these tourism experiences has contributed to enhancing rural and ecotourism, extending visitors' length of stay, stimulating investment in tourist resorts and farms, and supporting economic activity in the governorate.
