The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in Makkah region, represented by the Control and Compliance Department, in coordination with the General Irrigation Authority, organized a field visit for King Abdulaziz University students to Wadi Ghulail South Dam in Jeddah Governorate, as part of the training program implemented by the branch to enhance the practical aspect for students and enrich their knowledge of water facilities.

During the visit, students learned about the dam's operation mechanism and the operational procedures followed before and during rainy periods, and its role in regulating floodwater flow, reducing risks, and protecting lives and property, as well as learning about types of dams and their technical characteristics (concrete, earth, and rockfill), and the standards adopted in selecting construction sites and determining their dimensions. Director General of the Branch, Engineer Walid bin Ibrahim Al Daghis, emphasized that these visits reflect the branch's commitment to providing high-quality training programs that contribute to preparing qualified national cadres with scientific knowledge and practical experience, in line with the sustainable development goals and Saudi Vision 2030.
