The National Center for Environmental Compliance Control announced that the proportion of inspection tours targeting the highest environmentally impactful activities reached 70% of total visits in the first half of this year, exceeding 26,000 visits, as a result of activating directed oversight.

Abdulmajeed Al-Harbi, Director of the Inspection Department, explained that the implementation of directed oversight contributed to raising implementation efficiency, leading to a 13% decrease in the number of field tours compared to the same period last year. He noted that this approach enabled the center to develop inspection processes and their outputs within available resources.

Al-Harbi added that the 'Environmental Inspection' platform, which was updated at the beginning of this year, facilitated the registration of facilities with environmental impact, and also enabled quick reception of objections and corrective plans, which contributed to monitoring procedures and reducing the need for repeated inspection visits.

Enhancing cooperation and women's participation

In the same context, Al-Harbi stated that raising the level of cooperation with relevant authorities and conducting joint visits to monitor cases of non-compliance saved effort and time for the center's inspectors, especially at certain sites such as fuel stations and service centers, in addition to dust control campaigns in the capital in cooperation with the Royal Commission for Riyadh City and Riyadh Municipality.

It is worth mentioning that the first half of 2026 witnessed active female participation in field inspection work, as their participation rate during the last Hajj season rose to 10% of the total number of inspectors participating in the tours.
