It is painful that restrooms in the houses of God, which should be beacons of awareness and education on values, have turned into places where water is wasted without care. How many taps are left running, how much water flows unnecessarily, how much extravagance is repeated daily until it becomes a familiar scene that does not stop many people. The painful irony is that this waste occurs in places intended for performing a great act of worship, while our true religion forbade extravagance, even in purification and ablution. Worship is not completed by good performance alone, but also by good conduct, respecting and preserving the blessing.

A drop of water is not a trivial matter; it is a great blessing upon which life depends. Preserving it is a religious, national, and moral responsibility. What is wasted in a single mosque in one day could suffice for the needs of many families if used wisely and prudently. Addressing this phenomenon does not require massive campaigns as much as it requires an awakened conscience, a culture of responsibility, and periodic maintenance of taps and water fixtures, along with placing awareness signs reminding worshippers that economizing water is an act of worship and that preserving public property is part of full trustworthiness. Let us make the houses of God a model to emulate in respecting blessings, and let us know that civilization is not measured by abundance of resources but by their good management. Whoever preserves a blessing, God preserves it for him, and whoever takes it lightly exposes it to loss. Respecting water is not just a civilized behavior; it is a practical thankfulness to God for His blessings, a trust for which we will be held accountable, and a virtue befitting those who inhabit the houses of the Most Merciful. Treating this phenomenon is not with fleeting sermons alone, but by reviving the meaning of trustworthiness in souls, so that everyone entering the mosque feels that preserving water is not a personal choice, but a religious, moral, and national responsibility. Among the primary means of treatment is to intensify awareness messages in mosques, and for Friday sermons and preaching lessons to include reminders of the sanctity of extravagance and the veneration of blessings. Placing dignified guidance signs near ablution areas reminding worshippers that economizing water is worship and that every saved drop is charity for society is also important. Attention should also be given to periodic maintenance of taps and water networks, and replacing old fixtures with water-saving ones. How many thousands of liters are wasted due to a small leak, a broken tap, or neglect that lasts days or weeks without repair? Equally important is for the imam, muezzin, and mosque regulars to be role models in proper water use. Behavior is more impactful than sermons, and silent role modeling is more rooted in souls than thousands of words. Nations are not measured by what they possess of resources, but by the conscience they have to properly maintain those resources. Water is not just a service flowing from a tap; it is a blessing upon which life depends, and a trust for which man will be questioned before his Lord. If the houses of God are the first school that trains souls to venerate trustworthiness, then the first thing to be preserved therein is the blessings God has bestowed upon His servants. It is regrettable to hear the roar of water in them more than one sees care in preserving it. Let us close the tap as we close the doors of extravagance, and let us make our ablution a lesson in economy, and our behavior a witness to the sincerity of our faith. For gratitude for a blessing is not a word spoken, but a virtue practiced, a trust fulfilled, and a behavior whose effect remains as long as the blessings last.
