His Excellency Dr. Mishal bin Fahm Al-Sulami, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, met on Tuesday with the European Parliament's delegation for relations with the Arabian Peninsula, headed by Reinhold Lopatka, as part of the official visit to the Kingdom.

Denouncing Escalation and Discussing Cooperation

At the beginning of the meeting, the European Parliament delegation affirmed its solidarity with the Kingdom and its standing by its side, denouncing the escalation by the Houthi militia. It also condemned the Iranian attack on ships and the disruption of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, calling for freedom of navigation and the opening of the strait without any conditions.

During the meeting, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the parliamentary field between the Shura Council and the European Parliament were discussed, along with a number of topics of common interest. Attending the meeting from the Shura Council were: Mohammed Al-Humaidhi, Chairman of the Saudi Parliamentary Friendship Committee with the European Parliament; Dr. Khaled Zubair, Chairman of the Water, Agriculture and Environment Committee and member of the Saudi Parliamentary Friendship Committee with the European Parliament; and Dr. Laila Fada, member of the Water, Agriculture and Environment Committee and member of the Saudi Parliamentary Friendship Committee with the European Parliament. From the European side, the meeting was attended by European Parliament members: Abeer Al-Sahlani, Daniel Freund, and Hana Jalloul Muro; members of the political group: Delia Vlase, Kathleen Heugen, Francesco Serasani, and Ursa Bondelic; and the European Union Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Christophe Farnaud.
