General / Shura Council Deputy Speaker Meets European Parliament Delegation
Jeddah, 07 Safar 1448 AH, corresponding to July 21, 2026 AD, SPA: Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, Dr. Mishal bin Fahm Al-Sulami, met today with the European Parliament's Delegation for Relations with the Arabian Peninsula, headed by Reinhold Lopatka, as part of the official visit the delegation is making to the Kingdom. At the outset of the meeting, the European Parliament delegation expressed its solidarity with the Kingdom and its standing by its side, denouncing the escalation by the Houthi militia, and condemned the Iranian attack on ships and disruption of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, calling for freedom of navigation and the opening of the strait without any conditions. During the meeting, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the parliamentary field between the Shura Council and the European Parliament were discussed, along with a number of topics of mutual interest. The meeting was attended by Shura Council members: Chairman of the Saudi Parliamentary Friendship Committee with the European Parliament, Mohammed Al-Humaidhi; Chairman of the Water, Agriculture and Environment Committee and member of the Saudi Parliamentary Friendship Committee with the European Parliament, Dr. Khaled Zubair; and member of the Water, Agriculture and Environment Committee and member of the Saudi Parliamentary Friendship Committee with the European Parliament, Dr. Laila Fada.
