The Asir region has continued to establish itself as a year-round tourist destination, relying on its authentic culture, diverse nature, and ambitious drive to cement its stunning tourism status. Leveraging its rich and authentic cultural heritage and varied natural landscapes, Asir aims to solidify its position as a prominent global destination throughout the year. This strategic focus seeks to attract visitors from around the world, showcasing the region's unique cultural heritage and diverse natural beauty. Rooted in the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which serves as a launchpad for the strategy, the goal is to enhance Asir's standing as a global tourism hub. The strategy has successfully created vibrant tourism economic opportunities based on unique assets and the community, supported by rich culture and authentic heritage, enhanced by tourism capabilities to preserve our breathtaking nature within a sustainable environmental system under global standards and effective infrastructure to unlock Asir's potential efficiently. This supports and promotes identity, tourism offerings, and services in the Asir region, ensuring an exceptional visitor experience. The planning has relied heavily on precise engineering for tourist destinations in Al-Namas, Tanomah, Balasmar, and Rijal Almaa. Meanwhile, the Asir Development Authority has empowered small and medium enterprises to boost promising tourism development through an integrated system of effective programs aimed primarily at building the capacities of SMEs in tourism-related sectors, supporting the development of the tourism sector to attract economically sustainable investments. This fosters the growth of key sectors specifically and implements a comprehensive investment plan for investment activities in the Asir region to advance an investment marketing plan, attracting investors to support and encourage SMEs and develop, attract, and retain top talents and competencies to support the tourism sector. It also launches a talent and competency attraction program and enhances culture and heritage as a source of competitive advantage for the Asir region, supported by more activities to develop capabilities and competencies in the tourism sector and highlight the region's tangible and intangible cultural heritage, enabling the local community to play an effective role in tourism development and raising community awareness of tourism benefits and opportunities. The Asir Development Authority (both lowland and highland) has also sought to exploit biodiversity to ensure sustainable use of resources, conducting a comprehensive environmental survey and implementing a technical application for continuous monitoring to preserve water resources and ensure sustainability. It also works to restore and enhance degraded landscapes, damaged ecosystems, and lost biodiversity in the Asir region, rehabilitating endangered wildlife and natural habitats, working alongside the Saudi Green Initiative at the local and regional levels through the Green Asir initiative to adapt to climate change and continue efforts to improve resource management in the Asir region sustainably, in line with best practices to mitigate climate change impacts, ensuring effective and smart management of environmental sustainability, developing sustainable agricultural practices, promoting distinctive products, and enabling sustainable ecotourism in the Asir region. Continuous attention is given to establishing effective partnerships to strengthen the growth of key sectors, aiming to study project needs, improve operations, enhance data integration, and facilitate access to information to support decision-making, establishing an urban information center within the Asir Development Authority. The Authority is also striving to design an architectural identity for the region, establish land use regulations, and apply smart city concepts in the Abha urban area and tourist destinations. It continues to focus on the environment by intensifying flexible and continuous communication with all relevant parties, fostering a distinguished cooperative system and meaningful engagement to enhance work with citizens, businesses, local experts, and government agencies, including the Asir Municipality, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, and various other bodies. This includes the e-training platform, through which the Local Content and Government Procurement Authority enables government employees, state-owned companies, the private sector, and even individuals to provide the necessary knowledge to improve application efficiency and compliance, achieve local content development targets, and increase their local cultural awareness regarding local content policies, regulations, and related fields, focusing on developing specialized skills to enhance the efficiency of national cadres and improve training operations, enabling small enterprises and sectors to access all training materials and reduce reliance on paper transactions for greater efficiency and reliability in processing requests. The Asir Development Authority continues to schedule and program the development and promotion of local content, believing that this service will provide more distinguished investment opportunities to open horizons for localizing industries and transferring knowledge, allowing investors to apply for these opportunities and enhance localization of industry and transfer and exchange of knowledge within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
