Al Jazeera - SPA: The Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen hosted a meeting of the Yemen Partners Group at its headquarters in Riyadh yesterday. The meeting was co-chaired by the United Kingdom, the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Yemen, and the World Bank Group. The meeting embodied the importance of joint action among development partners as a pillar for enhancing development impact, exchanging expertise, and coordinating efforts to contribute to responding to development needs.

The Yemen Partners Group meeting discussed development challenges and developments in Yemen, as well as ways to enhance cooperation among partners. It also reviewed plans to accelerate the development process to support peace and stability efforts in the Republic of Yemen.

Assistant Supervisor General of the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, Engineer Hassan Al-Attas, explained during the meeting that the program continues to expand its development impact. In the first half of 2026, it launched a package of vital development projects worth 1.9 billion Saudi riyals, provided budget support to Yemen amounting to 1.3 billion riyals to cover operational expenses and salaries, and supported petroleum derivatives to fuel more than 70 power generation plants across all Yemeni governorates. This is in parallel with continuing to implement development projects and initiatives in partnership with international organizations and development institutions, reflecting an approach based on integrating efforts and enhancing impact to achieve more sustainable results.

It is worth noting that the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen has implemented 287 projects and initiatives since its inception across 8 vital sectors: education, health, energy, water and transportation, agriculture and fisheries, development programs, and support for building the capacity of the Yemeni government.
