In Al-Aflaj Governorate, a series of workshops titled 'The Reality of Development Work in Al-Aflaj Governorate' concluded, hosted by the Al-Aflaj Civil Development Association over the course of a week, as part of an initiative by His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, to empower local communities in several governorates of the region, under the supervision of the Rural Communities Development Association 'Rif Association'.

The workshops witnessed wide attendance and participation from representatives of government entities, civil associations, and those interested in development work, within the framework of enhancing community partnership and exploring ways to develop the non-profit sector, thereby contributing to improving the quality of life and achieving sustainable development in the governorate.

The workshops addressed five main axes: reviewing the reality of civil associations in the governorate and their key areas of work, identifying strengths and opportunities in development work, discussing the main challenges facing associations in achieving a sustainable development impact, as well as reviewing development gaps from the perspective of civil associations, and proposing practical suggestions for developing development work and building joint initiatives that serve the governorate.

These workshops come within the efforts of the Local Community Empowerment Initiative, which aims to unify efforts across different sectors and enhance integration among relevant entities, leading to the preparation of qualitative development initiatives that respond to the needs of the local community and contribute to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, thereby strengthening the role of the non-profit sector in sustainable local development.
