This evening, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman received Canadian Prime Minister Mr. Mark Carney at the Royal Palace in Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah, where an official reception ceremony was held, followed by a formal meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Crown Prince welcomed the Canadian Prime Minister to the Kingdom, while the latter expressed his delight at the visit and his meeting with the Crown Prince.

Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Industry of Canada on Investment in Artificial Intelligence

During the meeting, they reviewed aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries, areas of cooperation, and opportunities for their development across various sectors, in addition to reviewing developments in regional and international events and the efforts made regarding them.

The Crown Prince and the Canadian Prime Minister also witnessed the exchange of a number of bilateral memoranda of understanding, namely:

First: A memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Energy of the Kingdom and the Ministry of Natural Resources of Canada in the field of energy, exchanged by Saudi Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms. Anita Anand.

Second: A memorandum of understanding between the Government of the Kingdom and the Government of Canada on the establishment of the Saudi-Canadian Coordination Council, which will serve as a platform for implementing the contents of the joint work document between the two countries, representing a roadmap for the next phase of Saudi-Canadian relations. It was exchanged by Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms. Anita Anand.

Third: A memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Communications of the Kingdom and the Ministry of Industry of Canada on investment in artificial intelligence and skills development, exchanged by Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority President Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi and Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms. Anita Anand.

Attending the meeting were Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, Minister of the National Guard Prince Abdullah bin Bandar, Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman, Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of State and Member of the Cabinet National Security Advisor Dr. Musaid bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Minister of Finance Mr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan (the accompanying minister), and the Kingdom's Ambassador to Canada Amal bint Yahya Al-Moallemi.

Attending from the Canadian side were Minister of Finance and National Revenue Mr. François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms. Anita Anand, Minister of National Defense Mr. David McGuinty, Canada's Ambassador to the Kingdom Jean-Philippe Linteau, Member of Parliament Mr. Sameer Zuberi, Head of the Prime Minister's Office Mark-André Blanchard, Foreign and Defense Policy Advisor to the Privy Council Ms. Jennifer May, Chief Executive Officer of the Defense Investment Agency Mr. Doug Gozman, and Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Defense, and Security Policy Mr. Scott Gilmore.

Following the meeting, the Canadian Prime Minister confirmed in a press conference his country's keenness to enhance economic partnerships with the Kingdom, noting that bilateral cooperation will see further expansion, especially in the mining sector.

It is noteworthy that the Canadian Prime Minister arrived in Jeddah yesterday for an official visit to the Kingdom, and was received at King Abdulaziz International Airport by the Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, and a number of officials.
